Mary and the Communion of Saints

Presented by The Center for Anglican Communion Studies

Forum with in-person guest the Most Rev. Frank T. Griswold, former Presiding Bishop and Primate of The Episcopal Church.

CACS is pleased to welcome the Most Rev. Frank T. Griswold, former Presiding Bishop and Primate of The Episcopal Church. He will preside at Eucharist and speak on “Mary and the Communion of Saints.” Focusing on the topic of Mary and the Communion of Saints as an exercise in ecumenical theology, we will draw upon an Anglican appreciation of Mary in conversation with Roman Catholic, Eastern Orthodox, and Reformed traditions. We will consider Mary from a number of perspectives: biblical, dogmatic, liturgical, along with ways in which she is “iconic” for people of widely ranging perspectives. Poetry and art have a role to play as well in how the Mother of Jesus, the Theotokos, is approached, understood, and perceived as a companion in the “fellowship of love and prayer” we call the communion of saints.

Refreshments, dessert, wine, and cheese will follow.

Those who register by February 9 will be put in a drawing for a prize!

We hope you can attend in person. Masks are required when not eating or drinking.

A Zoom link will be shared one day before the event for those who will participate virtually.

The event will also be streamed on the CACS Facebook page and recorded for sharing on the VTS YouTube page.
