Forma Settles into Lifelong Learning and Prepares for Annual Conference

Ian Markham and Lisa Kimball sign the agreement for Forma to become a ministry of Lifelong Learning in an office with bookcases and a painting behind them.

Forma, the Network for Christian Formation for the Episcopal Church and beyond, became part of Lifelong Learning in March 2022. Founded in 1997 as the National Association for Episcopal Christian Education Directors, Forma has a long history of serving lay and clergy Christian formation leaders by providing advocacy, professional development, networking opportunities, and resources. Over the past eight months, our team has worked with the Forma Advisory Committee to moderate the very active Forma Facebook Group, create a new communications strategy, and plan the 2023 Forma Annual Conference.

This year’s conference will take place January 17-19, 2023 in Alexandria, Forma Conference logo with orange and brown with the words Forma 2023 Called to Covenant.Virginia and online. The conference theme is “Called to Covenant.” The four plenaries will focus on how we are called, through Micah 6:8, to “do justice, love kindness, and walk humbly with God.” We are eager to hear from plenary speakers Bishop Deon Johnson, Heidi J. Kim, Julia Ayala Harris, and Rev. Edwin Johnson and to explore Micah 6:8 as well as other topics in our twenty-nine workshop offerings. The Forma Advisory Committee and members of the Lifelong Learning staff will gather onsite after the conference to reflect on the first year of working together and discern priorities for the coming year.
