Staff Check-in Today

Date: February 1, 2022

Today at 9:15 a.m., all the staff are invited to gather in the Flamingo. Coffee will be on the house. We will then go into the Lettie Pate Evans Room for our first “monthly check-in.” It will be an opportunity to share important documents: so, tomorrow, for example, we will be bringing copies of the new strategic plan that the Board voted in November.

Each month we will have some specific topic. Our topic today will be “Employee Appreciation Day.” In the feedback from the Pathways Phase I Summit, one participant had suggested that we should “do away with the staff development/appreciation day.” This is a good topic for us to consider. Often initiatives started years ago — in this case, 2008 — include a “sunset clause” (a date set for the initiatives to end). So, we will talk about the background of the idea and whether it has reached the end of its shelf-life (to change the metaphor from sunset).

In addition, at every staff check-in, there will be an opportunity to ask questions, express views, and articulate ideas. I look forward to seeing the staff this morning.
