Pathway to Ministry

Pathway to Ministry

Pathway to Ministry is a one-year academic program from Virginia Theological Seminary for students who have not yet engaged in a discernment process but wish to pursue formal theological education in an academically rigorous and spiritually nurturing environment.

During this year at VTS, students: enroll in a selection of courses that provides a well-rounded foundation of theological knowledge; participate in a structured program of discernment; are eligible to receive the Diploma in Theology at the end of one year, with an option to apply to continue in either the Master of Arts program or the Master in Divinity program. Any of these three degree/diploma options is open to any student in the program regardless of canonical status. Students also have the option of engaging in a diocesan ordination process while in residence at VTS.

Eligible students enrolled in Pathway to Ministry will receive a financial aid package covering tuition, fees, meal plan, and lodging for those who live on campus.
