CACS is pleased to introduce Caio Inácio, one of twelve Brazilians who took part in the Anglican Young Leaders Leadership Training Course. Today, we present his reflections in both Portuguese and English.
Please enjoy Caio’s commentary!
Taking part in the Anglican Leaders Training was an incredible experience! Bringing together young people from the Igreja Episcopal Anglicana do Brasil (IEAB) in a space of learning and sharing was truly enriching. Throughout the program, we had the chance to learn about each participant’s unique context — and, through that, to understand more deeply the diversity and beauty of our Church.
Reflecting on what it means to be a leader, especially within the Church, was both challenging and inspiring. We discovered that leadership is not just about coordinating actions or developing strategies, but about serving with a heart centered on Jesus. We realized that every strategic action must be grounded in commitment to our local community and built in harmony with the life and mission of the Church.
We were invited to think about leadership from a youth perspective, valuing practices such as active listening and mindfulness, while also finding creative and innovative ways to act. We also had the opportunity to learn more about the history and structure of the Anglican Communion, understanding how the IEAB is organized and works in partnership. Grasping this structure strengthened our identity as young Anglican leaders and helped us realize the importance of knowing the official documents and guidelines of our Province.
The in-person gathering was the highlight of the training! Reunions, new friendships, prayers, Bible readings, songs, and group activities brought joy and a sense of belonging. Presenting our projects allowed us to see the realities of each participant and to envision ways to serve our local communities and the wider society.
We ended this training filled with gratitude and hope, more aware of our role as leaders, and confident that all things are from God, through Him, and for Him.
