Anglican Commentary – Welcome CACS Student Worker: Miranda Peters

CACS is pleased to welcome Miranda Peters as a new student worker. Please read her introduction below in her own words:

Hi there! My name is Miranda Peters, and I’m delighted to be joining the Center for Anglican Communion Studies as I begin my middler year in the MDiv program here at Virginia Theological Seminary.

I was born and raised in Canada and have also lived in Belgium, Italy, the UK, and now the USA, experiences that have deepened my love for the global Church and its rich diversity. I cherish being part of a worldwide Communion, learning from the many ways Christianity is expressed across cultures, and knowing that I am joined by people across the globe who are praying together with the same words.

From 2021 to 2022, I had the privilege of living at Lambeth Palace as a member of the Community of St. Anselm. That year of monastic community life was deeply transformative and offered me a unique glimpse into the daily rhythms at the heart of the Anglican Communion. I lived with young Christians from 15 different countries and who belonged to 8 other denominations. This experience opened my eyes to the beauty of the diversity that exists under Christ. Under the tutelage of Catholic sisters, we prayed together, studied theology, participated in service projects in our community, and had lots of fun! The year was not without friction, but the Archbishop modelled for us a desire for reconciliation and genuine curiosity for the other. I knew that if this spirit of cooperation and sincere devotion to knowing Christ through the Holy Spirit was what was at the heart of the Anglican Communion, then that was where I wanted to be. I was confirmed as an Anglican in 2024 and am now a postulant in the Diocese of Toronto.

I can’t wait to see what this time working with CACS will bring. I am excited to welcome guests from around the globe, build connections across cultures, and support the worldwide mission of the Communion!
