ABOUT THE PROGRAM

Neurodiversity is a natural and valuable part of God’s diverse creation, yet many churches unintentionally create barriers that prevent neurodivergent children, youth, and adults from fully participating in worship, formation, and community life. This two-part Lunch & Learn series will explore what it means to cultivate communities of radical hospitality where every person can belong, learn, and contribute. Participants will gain a deeper understanding of neurodiversity—including common neurotypes such as dyslexia, ADHD, autism, and anxiety—and discover practical, evidence-based strategies for creating more accessible, welcoming, and inclusive ministries. Whether you serve in children’s formation, youth ministry, adult education, or congregational leadership, these sessions will provide tools that can be implemented immediately within your faith community.

Session 1: Understanding Neurodiversity – Explore the strengths, challenges, and lived experiences of neurodivergent individuals while examining how churches can move beyond awareness toward genuine belonging and inclusion.

Session 2: Universal Design for Learning in Faith Communities – Learn how Universal Design for Learning (UDL) principles can reduce barriers and increase participation by making worship, Christian formation, classrooms, events, and congregational life more accessible for everyone—not just neurodivergent learners.

*This program takes place online via Zoom meetings. Registrants will receive access to the recordings afterward.
