$1.25 million for child-centered practices in worship

Date: October 10, 2024

Some of the most important work that VTS does is found in Lifelong Learning and is funded by the Lilly Endowment Inc. Today, we are able to let friends know that we have been awarded a new grant dedicated to child-centered practices in worship. The initiative is called “Roots & Wings” – Intergenerational Formation Collaborative. It is a research project that seeks to look at how effective and informed intergenerational worship forms faith.

These grants are highly competitive. It take considerable work to design and write a grant application. For a regular academic, writing a grant is equivalent to writing a dense, academic article. It needs to be thought through in some detail, illustrate a sense of work done elsewhere in the field, have a detailed budget, and a system of evaluation of impact. This takes considerable time. So, I am both in awe of and in deep gratitude to Dr. Lisa Kimball. She is amazing. Thank you Lisa.
