Snowy Day Thank You

Date: January 4, 2022

It was early afternoon on January 2 that I learned that the weather forecast for Alexandria was snow. It was still warm. Christmas Day had almost been shorts weather. The prospect of snow sounded utterly implausible. But thanks to the hard work of the Associate Dean of Students, the Rev. Dr. Ruthanna Hooke, and the Vice President for Academic Affairs, the Rev. Dr. Melody Knowles, we made plans for the snowfall. Calls were made; COVID testing was rescheduled (thank you Nurse Julia for being so flexible); and we asked Facilities to be ready for the snow.

The team in Facilities was excellent. To their credit, they worked hard. It was a matter of clearing the snow while the snow was falling (always the hardest of gigs). They did an excellent job. With GOEs happening, the dorms and apartments were a priority.

On this day, I just want to say a massive thank you to those in Facilities who worked so hard. Thank you to Stuart Dahlinger, Victor Hurtado, Roberto Johnson, Tim Lawhorn, Tom Leake, Mohamed Mohamed, and Griffin Warder. You are the best.

The Very Rev. Ian S. Markham, Ph.D.
Dean and President
