Date: January 3, 2023
So, we say farewell to 2022. We now embark on the journey of 2023. For Virginia Theological Seminary, this is an important year. This is our 200th year of service for the Church. And there will be an array of opportunities to reflect and pray on the significance of the moment.
On a personal level, I invite us all to take stock and reflect on the way forward. What is God calling us into during this new year? Sometimes we have a challenge that needs to be managed; sometimes there is an opportunity that needs to be seized; and sometimes we have to be called to carry on just carrying on.
Finally, in my opening commentary for 2023, a special word to those taking the General Ordination Examinations. Prayers for you as you walk the journey of this week.
The Very Rev. Ian S. Markham, Ph.D.
Dean and President of Virginia Theological Seminary and President of General Theological Seminary
