Many Board members arrived last night, and others will join us this morning. This is the Fall Board meeting, as required by the Bylaws (yes, even the date is stipulated!). Today serves as our retreat day—an additional day added to the regular two-day Board meeting. It offers a space for the Board to reflect together on the affiliation between Virginia Theological Seminary and The General Theological Seminary.
I continue to marvel at the extraordinary gift of our Board members. They are so generous with their time. This is a volunteer Board, yet they are effectively helping to lead two institutions. They give countless hours to the Seminary, bringing wisdom, passion, care, and thoughtful analysis to the challenges before us.
And they are great fun. Talented people make wonderful company. They are accomplished, engaging, and deeply committed. I look forward to seeing them all. Thank you, Board members, for your dedication to Virginia Theological Seminary and The General Theological Seminary.
