A busy and exciting week ahead

Date: May 4, 2026

This week at Virginia Theological Seminary carries a deep sense of transition, gratitude, and hope. Today, we gather at the Deanery for the Senior BBQ, a moment to say goodbye to our Seniors and their families. I have grown to love them all, and I pray with confidence that their journeys in ministry will be impactful and significant.

On Tuesday, the Board meeting begins with a plenary session, followed by an evening dinner honoring the stepping down of our first lay Board Chair, Dr. David Charlton. His leadership has been marked by wisdom, steadiness, and deep commitment to the Seminary’s mission. It will be a fitting and heartfelt moment of appreciation for all that he has given.

Then the rhythm of the week continues with our Service for the Mission of the Church on Wednesday, drawing us back to our shared calling. Thursday brings Commencement, a joyful celebration of achievement and new beginnings. And on Friday, the Faculty gathers for a full day meeting, reflecting our ongoing commitment to the life of learning and formation that sustains this community.
