A chance to hear Dr. Sonderegger and Dr. Behr

Date: February 7, 2025

I confess I do marvel at Dr. Sonderegger. She is an accomplished and remarkable scholar. On top of the literature, familiar with both the traditional canon and all the alternative ones, and a pioneering voice in the academy. She is both deeply committed to a progressive politics and simultaneously a fierce defender of the tradition. She crafts sentences that are elegant and stunning with zero preparation. It is truly an honor to have her as a colleague and friend.

Then we have Dr. John Behr visiting the campus. Here is a conversation partner that can match Dr. Sonderegger in terms of understanding of the literature. To put these two great scholars in conversation is literally the stuff that makes a good movie. And the great thing for VTS is that this conversation is happening here on February 13, 2025 as part of the Figel Address organized by the Washington Theological Consortium.

I do commend this moment to you. It starts at 6pm. It truly will be one of those memorable moments. Your can reserve you space here.

The Very Rev. Ian S. Markham, Ph.D.
Dean and President of Virginia Theological Seminary and the President of The General Theological Consortium
