A chance to pray with Sarah Coakley

Date: February 21, 2024

Yesterday was Quiet Day. We sat with God in the midst of the silence. Today, it is a delight to invite everyone to continue to make silence part of their Lenten journey for this year. Tonight, I will go to the Oratory at 5.15pm for Evening Prayer. The office will be lead by the Rev. Dr. Sarah Coakley FBA and it will take the form of silent prayer. Praying in silence with others is a very special experience. This opportunity builds very nicely on the invitation of yesterday. In both cases, we are moving beyond words to really experience the divine.

I am grateful for Sarah’s willingness to do this. Sarah was the Norris-Hulse Professor of Divinity at the University of Cambridge and before that the Mallinckrodt Professor at Harvard University, and before that she was at Oxford University. She is rightly acclaimed as a leading voice in the academy and the Church.

It is a thrill to have Sarah with us. Do join me tonight in the Oratory.
