A Dean’s Office Update

Date: July 7, 2022

The Dean’s Office is complicated. We are the interface with the Board of Trustees and oversee the governance of the Seminary; we work closely with the Internal Administrative Meeting (comprising Senior Staff); we coordinate the Policy Administrative Meeting; 1-1 meetings have to be organized with all the senior staff and with Communications, the Chapel, and Strategic Planning; Bishops, other academics, and organizations often reach out to the Dean’s Office; numerous development opportunities are organized through the office; there is a whole host of meetings and events that are facilitated in the office; naturally oversight of the Strategic Plan happens here; and particular initiatives, such as the possible affiliation with General Theological Seminary, are led out of this office.

In recognition of the complexity of the work and the responsibility for such activities as VTS Press and for other staff, Ms. Taryn Habberley has become the Chief of Staff to the Dean and President. She brings a wealth of VTS experience, a Masters’ degree, and a remarkable capacity for organization and communication.

This promotion simply recognizes what is already the case. Taryn Habberley is already the Chief of Staff and has been for many months. I am grateful for all her hard work and the cheerful disposition and professionalism she constantly brings to her position.

The Very Rev. Ian S. Markham, Ph.D.
Dean and President
