There are many moments that linger in my mind. I think one memorable moment was when the Rev. Dr. Vandiver draw our attention to the Latin for God in Imago Dei is of course D-E-I. I won’t forget that. And last night, listening to our esteemed alumnus navigate the complexity of moment with wisdom and deep thoughtfulness was utterly compelling.
The Presiding Bishop Sean W. Rowe delivered the Mollegen Forum on the topic “Institutional Resistance: Theological Perspectives on Public Witness.” It touched on the moment in which we live. How do we faithfully engage with that moment? The answer is to ground our witness in deeply held Christian theological insights within institutions that confront the evils in their past and witness to the hope that the world can and should be different. The two panelist were outstanding – Ms. Ebonee Davis and Dr. Kyle Lambelet.
I am grateful for the privilege of being present at the lecture. And I am grateful to the Center of Anglican Communion Studies that organized this visit – the director of the Center, the Rev. Dr. Kathy Grieb, and her amazing team – Ms. Hartley Wensing and Ms. Melissa Allbrandt. Thank you.
