Strategic plans matter. Every institution and every organization needs to know where they are headed. The Strategic Plan ensures that our movement is deliberate, well thought out, clear, defined, and intentional. We are not simply living from day to day, but we have an intentional direction.
This Strategic Plan which was passed last Wednesday was a result of a long process. Naturally the Board was involved both at the beginning and the end. Faculty gave their input. A quarterly staff meeting was dedicated to staff input. Alums were invited to contribute. Student Government and the AAEC were invited to share their ideas. Here in the Commentary, we repeated the invitation to every alum, student, and friend to contribute to the plan.
The result is a good plan. Our goal is to support The Episcopal Church and the Church more widely. We are committed to social justice, inclusion, evangelism, and formation. Creation care figures prominently. You can read the plan here. I commend it to you.
