The trip to Memphis over the weekend was important. It was an opportunity to meet with various alums in an informal setting; we also had a visit with Bishop Phoebe Roaf – the vice-chair of the Board; and most importantly we connected with the artist of the extraordinary baptismal painting in Scott Lounge. The Rev. Dr. Barney Hawkins managed to persuade Mr. Terry Lynn to visit the Seminary to talk about his art sometime in 2022. This is exciting.
Preaching this morning at Calvary Episcopal Church was a joy. Two of our alums are serving at that congregation – the Rector, the Rev. Scott Walters, and the Associate Rector, the Rev. Katherine Bush. For Adult Education, I shared the news about Reparations program.
These trips are important. Slowly as we get vaccinated (and in my case have a booster), we can and should connect afresh with our alums around the country.
