A team from the Association of Theological Schools is now on the Close in Chelsea. The General Theological Seminary has accreditation by virtue of the affiliation with the Virginia Theological Seminary. Part of our work during this visit is to explain how VTS has helped GTS flourish.
The news from GTS is good. The program is strong. With the arrival of Vanderbilt University, the challenge and the cost of the campus are resolved. We are now confident that GTS can continue to operate long into the future and will do so here in New York. VTS played an important role in enabling this scenario to unfold.
I am grateful to all those who are working so hard to make a sister seminary survive and thrive. As the rest of the Church navigates the future of struggling congregations and dioceses may this be a model that others will consider.
The Very Rev. Ian S. Markham, Ph.D.
Dean and President of Virginia Theological Seminary and the President of The General Theological Seminary
