Bearing Witness

Date: July 24, 2025

This year, VTS has yet another bicentenary to celebrate—that of the Mission Society.

Founded in 1824, the mission of the Mission Society is to partner with leaders worldwide to discern and bear witness to God through conversations and relationships.  We engage in this witness by raising money for grants to support communities working to reveal the Kingdom of God in our midst.  Our primary means of collection are the Wednesday morning Eucharists, the Mission Society Eucharist in December, and the Service for the Mission of the Church in May, the evening before Commencement.

This past year, we raised over $10,000 and were able to fund grants in Malawi, Uganda, and Kenya. Funding these grants will put a roof on a school, build wells for clean drinking water, and support women and children in need.

If you’re a member of the VTS community, believe it or not, you are already a member of the Mission Society!  If you would like to get more involved, be on the lookout for meeting times and locations in the fall.
