Behind the Scenes: The Dedicated Team Powering the Dean’s Office

Date: June 30, 2025

This week readers of the Dean’s Commentary will hear from the core team that makes up the Dean’s Office staff at Virginia Theological Seminary (VTS). The dean’s office at VTS is more than an administrative hub – it’s a place where hospitality, service, and seamless coordination come together to support our mission. At the forefront is our Guest Services Coordinator, Ms. Sharon Longley, who ensures that every visitor, from prospective student to distinguished guests, feels warmly welcomed and cared for. Our student worker, Ms. Abigail Merk, brings fresh energy and perspective, assisting with daily tasks and special projects that keep our operations running smoothly. Last but not least, Mr. Reggie Gravina, Technology Coordinator, who manages the complex logistics or meeting and guest room management, along side handling on-campus IT needs. His organizational skills and proactive communication ensure that every meeting, class, and gathering is supported with excellence.

Together, these roles form the backbone of the dean’s office, embodying the values of service, collaboration, and hospitality that define VTS. If you have the pleasure of interacting with Sharon, Abigail, or Reggie please do thank them for all they do.

Taryn Habberley, MA
Chief of Staff, Office of the Dean and President
