Beth Clarke – Editor of Chaplaincy

Date: April 17, 2026

Bringing a book to publication is no small task, and today we celebrate the tremendous achievement of Beth Clarke, who joined me in editing Chaplaincy: The Missional Frontier. From the early days of hosting a global conference with participants from many faith traditions to finalizing the cover design just before publication, Beth’s leadership and diligence were extraordinary. Her careful coordination and editorial insight brought this diverse and compelling collection to life.

Chaplaincy continues to grow in importance and impact across every sector of society. At VTS, we are seeing increasing numbers of students drawn to this ministry, recognizing its vital role in meeting people wherever they are. Whether in hospitals, schools, businesses, prisons, or the military, chaplains embody the Church’s presence in the midst of daily life and human struggle.

The essays in this volume are deeply moving, revealing the heart of chaplaincy through stories of compassion, courage, and faith. Each contribution sheds light on the sacred encounters that happen when chaplains bring hope into the most ordinary and extraordinary places. I am deeply grateful to Beth for making this important book possible, and I hope you will buy a copy here and share it with others who care about this vital ministry.
