Yesterday two committees of the Board of Trustees met. It was the Finance Committee and the Executive Committee. Our practice now is to gather on zoom. This has been one learning from our pandemic season: certain things are good on zoom. We try hard to keep committee meetings to the hour: attendance is excellent (zoom is easier – you can take the call if need be in the car); and we are now getting good at catching the hand or the wave or, for those especially zoom literate, the raised hand in the reactions section.
However, one part of the work of the Board committees that has not changed as a result of the move on zoom is the need to prepare for the meeting. Yesterday the Finance Team – Vice President Ballou and Mr. Terrell Whitaker – put together an excellent packet for the Finance Committee. Everything you needed was in the one pdf – from the minutes of the last meeting to the proposal for the repayment of the loan. We provided our Board members with all the information to make thoughtful decisions about the future of the Seminary.
Today I want to say thank you to all those who are putting together the packets for the committees of the Board of Trustees. Governance is important; and your careful preparation is exactly what we need. Thank you.
