Commitment to the Dean’s Commentary

Date: May 31, 2024

In 2007, Dean Markham began writing a commentary for every weekday the Seminary is open. I made a personal commitment to read the commentary every day to stay informed of happenings on campus and enhance my understanding as a Trustee. Mission accomplished. I have read every commentary written by Dean Markham as well as every commentary written by guest writers in the summer. I find them rich with information and ideas that lead me to appreciate the complexities of the institution and the dedication of those who work here.  Recently Dean Markham used the daily commentary to report on decisions made by the Board of Trustees at the May 2024 meeting. We worked hard and made many decisions that affect VTS now and into the future. I will be watching the future unfold for VTS from the sidelines as this was my final board meeting after 33 years of service as a Trustee. Going forward, I will rely on Dean’s Commentary to keep me informed.

Thank you from the bottom of my heart to the VTS community for the privilege and pleasure of working with you and getting to know you on a personal level.  I value the friendships made and lessons learned. My greatest pleasure as a board member was having a front row seat at Commencement to see the new graduates receive their diplomas. They give me hope for the future of the Episcopal church that I so love.  Thank you VTS.
