The Board of Trustees at the November Board meeting will be invited to reconsider the designs for the Welcome Center. After appropriate consultation, I will be explaining to the Board that the approved designs need to be modified in the light of the “Saints and Stories” wall. We now have a full historical introduction to the Seminary; we do not need to have displays conveying the same information.
This will mean that we are unlikely to start work on the Welcome Center during this academic year. So, working with John Erbe, the director of facilities, we are now making the Welcome Center space available for booking. I have asked John and Ruthanna Hooke to determine appropriate furniture for the space. They will be doing this next week. In addition, I have invited Donna Arrendell to create a “Student Government” office in the lower level of the Welcome Center.
Meanwhile between now and April 2022, this is a space that can be booked through the Dean’s Office. It is a lovely building; this will be a precious addition to our venue options.
