Celebrating the ministry of the Rev. Canon Samuel Van Culin

Date: December 4, 2024

Last night was a special evening.  We gathered for a book launch. The Rev. Canon Samuel Van Culin had written this extraordinary book called A Memoir. Sam, as he is affectionately known by his many friends, was the first Secretary General of the Anglican Communion.

In this role, Sam’s achievements are considerable. Many of the institutions of the Communion were established in Sam’s tenure. But the book’s beauty is less in the formal record, but in the more intimate details. Here was the man who worked closely with Terry Waite on hostage release efforts; Sam received an OBE (Order of the British Empire) from the Queen; and he was involved in ecumenical dialogues with Rome.

VTS is proud to honor Sam. His ministry and reach are significant. Thank you Sam Van Culin.
