The Center for Anglican Communion Studies hosted the Women Mentoring Women Conference three months ago, from Feb 24-28. From regions and continents across the Anglican Communion and with support from Trinity Wall Street, this conference brought together lay and ordained women leaders who are passionate about mentoring and learning from others. We had an incredibly diverse group with representation from Central, East, and Southern Africa, South and East Asia, Oceania, the Middle East, the Caribbean, North and South America, and Europe. The conference offered a truly global witness to the leadership, resilience, and faith of Anglican women.
Plenary sessions addressed key topics including the history of women in the church, the impact of war and poverty on women, women’s health and well-being and the current state of theological education. Alongside these sessions, one-on-one mentoring conversations created powerful intergenerational and cross-cultural connections. Participants spoke of being strengthened by the stories of others and challenged to lead with renewed courage and purpose.
A significant and urgent outcome among many of the conference was a collective commitment to support the Princess Basma Centre in Jerusalem. This Anglican hospital, which serves children with disabilities and their families, is currently facing a shortage of medical staff and essential resources. In response, the conference issued an appeal to the wider Communion for prayers, financial support, and advocacy.
As we look back with gratitude on the conference’s rich exchanges, we now look ahead with purpose. We invite you to stand in solidarity with the Princess Basma Centre and extend the spirit of women mentoring women into real and tangible acts of care.
