Come and sing tonight at 7pm

Date: February 10, 2026

Tonight offers a truly joyful celebration in song and spirit. We gather at 7:00 p.m. in Immanuel Chapel for Hymn Sing: Celebrating The Hymnal 1982, marking forty years since this remarkable book helped shape the voice of our worship. The Hymnal 1982 is far more than a collection of hymns—it represents a movement of renewal, theological depth, and inclusion in Episcopal worship. To reflect on its legacy through music and story is to remember the countless ways these hymns have formed our faith and our communities.

We are especially blessed that this celebration features Dr. Marty Wheeler Burnett, whose artistry and devotion to the church’s song have inspired so many. Marty is a gifted composer, musician, and beloved teacher whose wisdom, warmth, and musicianship shine through every note. Her new book, Shapers of The Hymnal 1982, opens a window into the lives and theological imagination of those whose work continues to shape our worship today. It is a gift to have her among us—and a joy to hear her insights in person.

This will be a special evening of gratitude, music, and community. Come ready to sing, to listen, and to give thanks for the hymn writers and musicians who have given the church a language of praise for generations. A reception will follow in the Chapel Parlor, and all are warmly invited to stay as we continue the celebration together.
