The massive sign in front of Aspinwall Hall as you arrive from Quaker Lane is very impressive. It is not simply in the new Seminary colors, it includes the Seminary logo. The idea is to make sure that you know that you have arrived. You are at Virginia Theological Seminary. It is inescapable.
Giving the guest a sense of who we are is the first step in welcome. The signage then helps the guest effortlessly find their way around the campus. Again this is an important aspect to welcome. It is frustrating not to be able to find your way to the building or office that you need to visit.
Perhaps the most dramatic aspect of the new signage is the new names for some buildings. Perhaps the most symbolic is the shift from the Meade building to Descendants Hall. Our reparation program is now firmly established. We are making sure that there is now a constant reminder of the importance of this program through the naming of a building.
