Our commencement speaker for 2023 – our historic bicentenary – is the Very Rev. Kelly Delaine Brown Douglas, Ph.D. I am delighted that she was able to accept our invitation. She is extremely well known both in the academy and in the Church. In 2017, she was appointed the inaugural dean of Episcopal Divinity School at Union Theological Seminary. Her distinguished career has included Goucher College in Baltimore, Howard University School of Divinity, and Edward Waters College.
She is not simply one of the leading womanist theologians in the world, but she has engaged in a deep, compelling way with the distinctive issues around racial justice in The Episcopal Church. I am delighted that she will be with us next May.
The Very Rev. Ian S. Markham, Ph.D.
