Today, I will continue to report out significant board decisions. A key motion came from the Academic Affairs Committee. It is our practice at Virginia Theological Seminary to appoint faculty, who are tenure track, on an initial three year appointment. Then after two years, as the faculty member enters the third, there is a review to confirm a subsequent contract that will lead to an opportunity for tenure.
The process is rigorous. The institution and the faculty participate in a process that is a comprehensive review. I am delighted to report that the review for the Rev. Dr. Rode Molla has been completed. The review panel, the faculty, and the Board of Trustees all reaffirmed the work of Dr. Molla. Her research has been productive and impressive; her teaching is popular; and she has been a delightful faculty colleague.
So our holder of the Berryman Family Chair for Children’s Spirituality and Nurture is now starting her second contract at Virginia Theological Seminary. Congratulations Dr. Molla.
The Very Rev. Ian S. Markham, Ph.D.
Dean and President of Virginia Theological Seminary and the President of The General Theological Seminary
