We all noticed how the President held his “State of the Union” address in a completely unmasked setting. He was following the latest CDC guidelines that state that in those areas where COVID cases are low, the fully vaccinated need not wear masks indoors. As a result, we are now moving to this policy on Monday, April 4. This means that masks are optional at VTS — anyone still wishing to wear a mask may do so — the N95 mask effectively prevents 95% of particles from spreading. Please honor and respect those who chose to do so.
The Associate Dean of Chapel will send out separate guidelines for the implications of this guidance for worship services.
The Butterfly House is retaining masks because the population of The Butterfly House is not eligible for vaccination.
Classes, The Flamingo, 1823, formation groups, the Bishop Payne Library, and all meetings are now mask-optional.
We are continuing the community testing; please do cooperate. In addition, please do monitor yourself for symptoms. The moment you feel you might have any symptoms, please get yourself tested. We will have the occasional positive result in our community; it is important that we know as soon as possible to prevent the spread in the community.
The Very Rev. Ian S. Markham, Ph.D.
Dean and President
