COVID Test Results

Date: January 14, 2022

It is inevitable as we navigate this season that the VTS community is interested in the results of our COVID testing. In the last two weeks, two further students have come down with the variant, along with one staff member in facilities. The two students are both living in the apartments.

In all cases, we inform Alexandria Health Department. We require those testing positive to let those with whom they have had close contact over the last three days before symptoms appear know that they have COVID. We then require the five days isolation as required by the CDC.

We are in a puzzling time. The advice from the CDC is different to what it was for other variants. The authorities – the federal government and the state – are now advising that we need to find ways to ‘live with COVID’ rather than assume it is a temporary presence that will disappear. With a community that has the spectrum of opinion within it, the Seminary has sought to follow the advice of the authorities closely. And we will continue to monitor both our own cases and our options going forward.
