Looking at our doctoral summer residency from the outside, it’s easy to overlook the tremendous effort that goes into making it work. Yet nearly every department at VTS is involved! The hospitality crew readies the dorm rooms for students, guest house residences for faculty, and classroom space for instruction. Library staff meet with students individually and in groups, helping them make the most of Bishop Payne Library’s wonderful collection. Staff in the Academic Affairs and Student Life have already helped students register for classes. Meriweather Godsey staff provide wonderful food and opportunities for fellowship. Maintenance has ensured students encounter a beautiful campus and highly functional classrooms. Our faculty tirelessly research and prepare for the instruction that is the very heart of the residency. So many people have played their part in making the doctoral residency run smoothly.
I especially want to thank our new Program Coordinator Jenn Baker for her tireless and precise organization that has led to a successful residency. While she just came on board this Spring, she is already a pro at the job. Austin Wendt has helped tremendously with welcoming and worship, while Tamika Martin has ensured everyone has comfortable rooms. Dr. Marty Wheeler Burnett and our residency organist Lyn Loewi have selected and played wonderful music for our worship. We are so grateful to you all!
