The Advent Service of Lessons and Carols is one of my favorite moments. It weaves together the beauty of Scripture with some extraordinary Advent Carols. It is the Immanuel Chapel at its best; the perfect blend of word and music.
Last night was historic. It was not simply that we honored the Rev. Canon Jerry Anderson – a man who for a season was literally the only priest who would visit persons suffering from AIDS – but it was also for the assembly. People travel thousands of miles to be present. And it was especially lovely to have Diane Rehm, the extraordinary radio host, and Bishop Gene Robinson with us. It truly was a special occasion.
This was an important moment. Thank you everyone who participated.
