Date: January 7, 2026
For the month of January, the Dean’s Commentary will feature text by VTS & GTS faculty members writing about what they are currently teaching, reading, or writing about.Â
This week we are delighted to welcome VTS and GTS students to campus for our Doctoral Thesis Week.
Every Project Thesis is a process of dedication, resilience, and growth. From the creation of a proposal submitted for approval, to the meticulous work of research, writing and revision, these pieces represent a serious undertaking. To focus, to persevere and to produce a Project Thesis is indeed admirable. We are conscious of the determined effort being made by our students and by those who will guide them across the finish line.
A range of fascinating and pertinent aspects of Educational Leadership, Ministerial Leadership and Christian Spirituality are being addressed by the group this year. Research areas include Engagement and Transformation through Digital Ministry, Creating a Congregational Rule of Life, Baptismal Witness in the Borderlands, A Womanist Practical Theology of Leadership, Survival and Ecological Justice, and A Womanist Theological Examination of Intimate Partner Violence in the Church.
Dr Beth Friend and I are teaching the Doctoral Thesis Week sessions together. As always it is a thought provoking, encouraging and life giving experience for our students and the whole team who contribute. Â We are incredibly grateful to PJ Hobbs (Acting Director of Doctoral Programs) and to Jenn Baker for their support in preparation and planning. It is a gift to have their presence with us on campus. We greatly appreciate the vibrancy of the Writing Consultations offered by Susan Sevier, and the insightful Library Consultations offered by Vincent Williams.
Please join with us as we wish our doctoral students well in their research and writing.
