During the 2027 Annual Forma Conference (January 25–29, 2027), formation leaders from across the Church will gather to explore one of the most overlooked yet essential gifts entrusted to our vocation—the capacity to imagine. Not imagination as fantasy or mere creativity, but imagination as a holy practice: the Spirit-shaped ability to perceive God’s activity in the world, to embody Christian virtue in our communities, and to envision gospel-rooted futures for God’s people.Â
Theological imagination is not optional for those who form others in faith. It is foundational. It shapes how we read Scripture alongside our communities, how we design liturgies and formative experiences, how we listen to the children, youth, and adults entrusted to us, and how we discern the next faithful step when the path forward is unclear. It is the communal and embodied habit that makes formation ministry possible, and it is a gift the Church urgently needs us to cultivate.Â
