Extraordinary Lecture

Date: April 20, 2023

I think it was the first time. I have been in situations where an audience gives an individual speaker a standing ovation. But I don’t think I have ever seen it happen with a panel and a speaker. But last night, in the Lettie Pate Evans Auditorium, we saw an extraordinary occasion unfold. Bishop Anthony Poggo (perhaps the second most important person in the Anglican Communion) spoke from his heart to bring together the Bible and the contemporary issues around migration in a fabulous lecture. And then our two panelists, the Rev. Canon David Ulloa Chavez and Ms. Lindsey Warburton were extraordinary as they engaged in a Q&A with the themes of the lectures. It was not surprising that the audience rose as one in applause.

The program continues today with Bishop Poggo preaching at 5.15pm. I am looking forward to this occasion. It will be an honor to listen to his continuing wisdom.
