Date: July 14, 2023
Today we continue our sneak peak at fall events with CACS. In addition to the Scriptural Reasoning (SR) Training of Facilitators and monthly sessions described yesterday, we look forward to hosting two sabbatical visitors: The Rev. Natalie Arendse will join us September 15 – October 6 from the Province of Southern Africa and St. John’s Parish Wynberg in Cape Town. The Rt. Rev. Dr. George Okoth will visit from October 12 – November 16 from the Diocese of Mara in Tanzania. Stay tuned for announcements of their forum dates and topics.
During the bicentenary events in October, CACS will be hosting 2 special conversations, one a forum with the Most Rev. Dr. Hosam Naoum on the Communion in the Land of the Holy One and another, a book talk on Becoming Cosmopolitan, the recently published history of 200 years of VTS in mission. Both on October 12, stay tuned for locations and times as the week’s events are publicized this fall.
Immediately after the bicentenary events, CACS will turn to another important occasion: the October 16—20 meeting of the Commission for Theological Education in the Anglican Communion (CTEAC). Twenty-two scholars and leaders from across the Communion (including CTEAC member and CACS Director Katherine Grieb) will be convening on campus for their first in-person meeting as a newly formed commission. Soon we will be announcing a date and time for the VTS community to hear from a selection of these leaders, so stay tuned!
Starting in August, you can find information on CACS events on the VTS Eventbrite and the CACS Facebook page. We hope to see you at many of our events this coming year!
