Forma done differently

Date: January 24, 2024

Forma is perhaps one of the most important organizations for Christian educators. The Forma Conferences is happening right now and it is going remarkably well. As of early January, there were 243 participants. There are several participant watch locations – two conference centers and 12 diocesan gatherings. The demographics of the participants are fascinating:
  • Age of Participants – range from 21-77
  • Denomination – other than one Catholic and three Lutherans, the conference is entirely Episcopalian
  • Diocese – so far, we have 52 dioceses represented
  • Order of Ministry – 66% Lay, 4% Deacons, 28% Priests, 1% Bishops *1% did not respond
  • Ministry Status – 29% of participants identify as full-time, 21% as part-time, 17% as volunteer
  • Race & Ethnicity
    • American Indian or Alaska Native 1.4%
    • Asian or Asian American 3.2%
    • Black or African American 2.3%
    • Hispanic or Latino/a 3.2%
    • White or European 82%

This is the remarkable work of Sarah Bentley Allred, Senior Formation Associate & Forma Convener, in Lifelong Learning. I am grateful for this achievement. Thank you for all your hard work Sarah.
