From Construction to Preparation: The Vital Role of Facilities in Campus Life

Date: July 11, 2024

It has been a long season of construction on the campus, but it is slowly coming to an end and the Facilities team is looking forward to a more moderate pace, but not quite yet.  Summer is our busy season.  When the academic year ends, the Facilities Department swings into action, we are busy and in full motion. During this time of vacant rooms, apartments, and faculty homes the Facilities Department performs scheduled preventive maintenance, as well as housekeeping on all dorms, apartments, and housing for the upcoming year.

This summer we are preparing 27 student apartments, 59 dorm rooms and 8 guest house rooms to receive students arriving in August.  We are completing 3 faculty home renovations – two for faculty arriving late summer.  We are changing all door locks on guest house rooms and planning to refresh the furnishing in our guest houses.  All of this in a 2 month time frame. It seems like every year the time frame gets a bit shorter, but every year we accomplish it and this year will be no different.

We are grateful for our landscape and housekeeping service providers.  Ruppert is managing the grounds beautifully and our housekeepers are ensuring that our newly renovated buildings are clean and well maintained.  A lot goes into preparing the campus to receive the students each academic year and it requires a team effort to make sure that everything goes smoothly. With that I would like to express my gratitude to the entire Facilities Operations crew for all of their hard work and dedication. Without them, none of this would be possible. THANK YOU!
