Yesterday Taryn Habberley and I made our way over to the Flamingo. Given it was Spring Break, it was quiet. Lara, who was dog-sitting, was taking a break and enjoying a Mocha. Taryn had a “dirty chai” and I had a “soy latte.” But apart from us, the Flamingo was empty.
The Flamingo is open every morning. Taking a break from your office, stretching your legs, getting a coffee, and supporting a service in the Seminary are good things to do. Every Spring Break, we agonize over whether there is enough demand to keep the Flamingo open. This week, we are keeping it open – mornings only – to see how many customers it will attract.
So as departments think about their practices, I invite them all to consider adding a coffee break and taking a stroll to the Flamingo. It is healthier; it gives the staff something to do; and it ensures that the Flamingo will continue to be open in the future.
