This is the last commentary until after Thanksgiving. This is a lovely holiday. There is a simplicity in the occasion. We remember with gratitude the gift of living and life. Families and friends gather. Good food and fellowship are enjoyed. It is uncomplicated and precious.
Everyone uses the occasion to list their blessings. So please allow me to do the same. I am grateful for you the reader; I am grateful for students, staff, and faculty of Virginia Theological Seminary; and I grateful for the friends and alums of this place that continue to love the work we are doing. Of course, I am sure that there are moments when you think I am not getting it quite right, but be assured I do appreciate the counsel and feedback. In the end, this place is stronger because people care.
Please, on this Thanksgiving, do just pause and remember that you are appreciated. My prayer constantly is to “get this as right as I can.” And you help me in this task by taking an interest, by giving, by emailing, by supporting, by offering feedback, and by caring. Thank you for being you.
