Have a blessed Thanksgiving

Date: November 27, 2024

It is a fundamental Biblical theme. Learning to be grateful is a vitally important skill. There is always something that would make one’s life better, but this ignores the many ways in which life is already good. So, once a year, we pause and give thanks.

There is a simplicity about this occasion. The focus is family and friends. One is invited to participate in a ritual meal that has a long and distinguished history. Recipes are being shared. Getting everything just right is the goal.

On this day, I am grateful to all the readers of the commentary. Thank you for walking this journey through these daily updates. May God grant you a rich and blessed Thanksgiving.

The Very Rev. Ian S. Markham, Ph.D.
Dean and President of Virginia Theological Seminary and the President of The General Theological Seminary
