We have more than 2000 people who have signed up for the Holy Week text experience. There are many ways to mark Holy Week – perhaps fasting, perhaps the daily Eucharist, and perhaps receiving a text that is describing where Jesus now is in the journey of the week. The idea is simple: we are connected to our phones, especially the Millennial and the Gen Z. Let us turn the phone into a device of prayer and reflection.
This is an inspired idea. The concept of the Church Calendar is to encourage humanity to live conscious of the divine and to transcend the mundane. It is so easy to let time pass without thinking of the One who created us and loves us. Days just become a combo of breakfast, work, lunch, work, dinner and TV. Before we know where we are, we are 70 and facing the truth of our mortality. This “text” message reminder of the journey of this week is a way in which we live this week aware of the drama of eternity.
I am grateful to all those who have worked so hard to make it possible for people to walk with Jesus during this week.
