Lunch at the Deanery and the Seminary Closes for Christmas

Date: December 22, 2022

We are expecting almost seventy people for lunch at the Deanery today. Employees and their families are invited to come to lunch. It is a lovely occasion. It is my chance to wish everyone the best of the season as we head out for a much deserved and needed break.

It is our practice to close the Seminary at 2pm today. So, do come to the lunch, enjoy some time with friends and colleagues, and then head out to be with family.

Christmas is a special time of the year. There is a magic. Perhaps it is just the sheer energy of millions of Christians looking forward to the birth of the Christ Child. Perhaps it is the carols and the decorated trees. Or perhaps it is that we lift our eyes from the mundane of each and every day and have the gift of a moment when we are conscious that eternity is touching time – and this moment really matters.

The commentary now stops until the New Year. Please have a blessed Christmastide and a wonderful New Year.

The Very Rev. Ian S. Markham, Ph.D.
Dean and President of Virginia Theological Seminary and President of General Theological Seminary
