Making VTS a place to visit

Date: September 28, 2023

We want guests on this campus. We want people who discover the countless gems on the campus: we have civil war graffiti on the walls of Aspinwall Hall; we have an extraordinary set of exhibits in the Welcome Center; we have a set of Bicentennial displays in the Bishop Payne Library; we have a 90,000 LEGO-piece Aspinwall Hall in the lobby of Aspinwall Hall; we have a 3,000-year-old antiquity in Bicentennial Hall; and we have a chapel that is just amazing. And if you need a drink or a meal, then we have the Flamingo and 1823.

When you bring a guest, please show them around. We want our guests to enjoy VTS. Now here is a secret that I will share with you: we learned back in 2016 that if a person makes four or more visits to the campus, they are nine times more likely to support the Seminary. So, we can all help VTS by bringing some guests to the Seminary. Please do so.

The Very Rev. Ian S. Markham, Ph.D.
Dean and President of Virginia Theological Seminary and the President of The General Theological Seminary
