Tonight there is a community dinner (for which you did need to register). It will be an opportunity to hear from Ayodeji Malcolm Guite, probably one of the finest poets working in the Anglican tradition today. He is an extraordinary priest, author, and poet. Having recently retired from Girton College, Cambridge, he is now focusing on writing poetry, giving lectures, and writing a set of sonnets to mark our historic Bicentenary.
I have known Malcolm Guite through his poetry. It is lovely to meet and get to know the man behind these remarkable poems. Making connections with these great minds is one of the privileges of being at Virginia Theological Seminary. You never know exactly who is sitting behind you in Chapel or in the Refectory or ordering a coffee in the Flamingo. It is what makes this place fun. Do please enjoy this opportunity to hear Malcolm Guite.
The Very Rev. Ian S. Markham, Ph.D.
