Perhaps now more than any other time in recent American history, the events marking the Commemoration of the Rev. Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. are especially important. However, frustrating some find DEI, it remains true that racism is a reality within the American experience both past and present. And as Christians committed to the Imago Dei (yes D-E-I – thank you Kevin), we pause and seek to confront that reality with the promise and hope of creating a different future.
Yesterday, we had the honor of hearing from the Rev. Dr. Kevin Vandiver, as he addressed the topic “We are at an impasse” – a fabulous and thought-provoking lecture. Today at 5.15pm, there is a community Eucharist. All students and faculty are expected to attend these events.
I am grateful for the hard work of our Multicultural Ministries as they assist us to address these issues.
