Yesterday I began the journey to Holy Trinity Episcopal Church in Greensboro, North Carolina. It is a privilege to be invited by our alum, the Rev. David Umphlett, to lead the Triduum in such a significant parish. Moments like this remind me of the deep bonds that connect our common life and ministry.
The Triduum draws us into the heart of the Christian story. We move from the betrayal of Holy Thursday, through arrest, torture, and suffering, to the crucifixion on Good Friday, and then into the descent into Hades. This sacred journey culminates in the first Eucharist of Easter on Saturday night, where darkness gives way to resurrection hope.
I am deeply honored to be asked to lead this observance. As I walk these days liturgically, I will be holding you in prayer. I invite you, wherever you are, to find time to walk this journey with our Lord.
